This marker is about halfway between Brule & Big Springs on Highway 30. Just to the east of the marker you can still see what is left of the trail -- the grass is a rusty color. The proposed "Trails Museum" is to be built south of the river across from this marker. After the pioneers climbed this hill it was on to Windlass Hill in Ash Hollow where they let their wagons down the cliff by ropes.
